Prairie Burn!

Friday, April 17th.
Weather conditions were good for the prairie burn.

The crew began on the hillside just south of the parking lot.

The fire helps create a natural fertilizer for the soil.

The prairie fire will also help control weeds,
woody plants and non-native species.

They were very efficient and careful.

When one section was finished, they moved to another area.

Some of the wildlife wondered, "What's happening around here?"

It won't take long before the grasses appear once again.
But we hope the mulberry trees will not survive!

Easter Egg Hunt - April 11, 2009

Early in the week, the Boy Scout troop filled over 2,000 plastic eggs in preparation for the annual Easter Egg Hunt.

The night before the event, church members set up tables and chairs, organized the treats, and put over 200 prizes onto tables in the gym.

Saturday morning was beautiful! The Boy Scouts and their leaders arrived early
so they could distribute the Easter Eggs.

The Girl Scouts came to do crafts and face painting.
They also helped to distribute the prizes.

Thank you to the wonderful leadership for these young people!

People began arriving and finding their places.

And the "Hunt" Began!

After finding eggs, people came into the building
to empty their eggs and to claim their prizes.

Face painting was very popular!

And you could make a really cute chicken in a basket.

Cookies. Krispie Bars, strawberries, grapes, juice and coffee were available.

It was so much fun to see families enjoying themselves.

Next comes Easter, a day to sing hymns of resurrection faith, a day to hear proclaimed with assurance, that the Lord is risen. A day of rejoicing with family and friends.

As you go to your homes of worship this year,
be assured that the God of Joy, Hope, Love and Peace is available to all.
