JAM Kids Journey to Mexico
Let's get out of the cold and snow!
But first, we must leave the frozen state of Iowa!
Paper people line the wall of our room!
These paper people are ready to assemble.
And then we made God's Eyes.
Traditionally, a God’s Eye was a spiritual symbol,
and the weaving process was reflective and meditative.
The points of a God’s Eye represent the four
elements of nature: earth, fire, air and water,
and the center of the ornament represents
the eye of God,
and is believed to have the power to see
and understand things that the human eye cannot.
We Journey to Mexico
First, we had our passports stamped at "Customs."
Then Kimberley helped us to understand
more about Mexico, the country where she was born.
Our special guest, Kimberley, is a high school student who moved to Iowa from Mexico when she was about 5 years old. She shared with us some things about the culture of Mexico and about how Jesus is celebrated in Mexico. 93% of the people in Mexico are Christian. Spanish is the major language that is spoken in Mexico.
