JAM Kids - March 13, 2013

JAM Kids learn about SYMBOLS, not CYMBALS.

Where is Spring?  Things that have been dormant through the winter are beginning to “wake up” and we are seeing evidence of new life, little sprouts poking their heads up through the snow.   We look forward to Easter!

Our Gem of Joy for March is the sapphire.
Blue is the main color of the sapphire.
The color of this stone is strongly linked
to feelings of harmony, friendship, and loyalty;
feelings of mutual understanding and trust.
Certainly, we trust the love of Jesus.

Puppets tell about SYMBOLS.

The puppeteers are ready to begin!

The audience is ready

The puppets set the stage for us this evening,
when Miss Lamb was able to convince Mr. Lion, Miss Kitty
and Hound Dog that Easter is more than
candy, bunnies, and eggs.
She talked about symbols -
and that perhaps bunnies, chicks, eggs and candy
are symbols of giving, receiving, and new life.

Hound Dog said that he loved cymbals!

Miss Lamb showed the others that a symbol is not the same as cymbals.

Then O.B. Joyful shared a set of “Resurrection Eggs” with each egg containing a symbol of the first Easter.

Each egg contained a symbol of Easter.

This cross was made of nails.

 Grace holds praying hands.

People "cast lots"

Gavin holds coins to represent the money paid to Judas.

Grace with a piece of leather that could have been used as a whip.

Jack holds a donkey - Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a young foal.

The "chalice" was held by Landon.

Lily holds a cloth to represent cloth that was wrapped around Jesus.

Maddie removed the cross from her egg.

Mary had the crown of thorns.

 What is Nathan holding?

Dinner and Crafts

 String Cheese

 Chicken sandwiches

The sugar cube cross and the sun catchers
are both symbols of Easter.

We did the sun catchers upstairs before puppets.
And we started our sugar cube cross.

They will look great in the window at home!

After Dinner, we finished our sugar cube cross.
(Kind of.)

This little light of mine,
I'm going to let it shine.

Scripture Gem:

“Though you have not seen him, you love him;
and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him
and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy.”
