Can you guess the "Peaceable Kingdom"
animal of the month for November?

Last week, it was warm and sunny.
But the arctic air has blasted into Iowa City!
|
Our meeting this month was a little different. Because it was a “no school day” for teacher conferences, some people came early to play in the gym. How wonderful to have fun with friends!
Soon it was time to begin our upstairs activities!
The schedule is posted.
The first disciples of Jesus were fishermen.
We had so much fun blowing paint bubbles.
Then the paper popped the bubbles and we
ended up with really neat designs.
This created a background for our fish!

| Micah and Jayden work carefully. |
It took some time for the bubbles to dry.
Our scriptures in November
all contained the word "fish."
Then we had three stories about fish!
Two were from the Bible.
In Luke 5, Jesus and his friends went fishing,
and here we find that Jesus
recruited his first disciples.
“Follow me,” he said,
“and you will not just catch fish,
you will catch people for God.”
In Luke 8 and Matthew 8,
we find the story of Jesus and his disciples
out in a boat when a great storm began.
The disciples were so frightened!
But Jesus was calm.
“Peace; be still.” he said.
The wind stopped blowing
and the waves quit crashing.
The disciples learned that they can
always trust God to protect them.
“Rainbow Fish in the Sea Monsters’ Cave”
is a popular children’s book
that seems to fit our theme this month.
Bumpy backed fish was sick!
They were all frightened to go through the cave
to get the red algae.
The only way that Bumpy Backed Fish
could get better was by eating red algae.
But red algae was found only
on the other side of the sea monsters’ cave!
Rainbow Fish and little Blue Fish were frightened,
but they went together . . .
having a friend by your side is important.
After dinner, we finished our craft projects.
The fish with craft sticks can be a
Christmas tree ornament.
Jumping Rope in the Gym
The evening ends with singing.
