It is beginning to feel like SPRING!
Days are getting longer.
It has been a long, cold winter.
Last month, we did not have time
to finish our EAGLE craft.
So this time, we did it first!
Our animal of the month was the LION.
We reviewed the story of Daniel.
Daniel's people were held as slaves in the kingdom of Babylon;
Darius was the king.
Darius knew that Daniel was a good worker
so he decided to put Daniel in charge of the whole country.
The other servants of the king were very jealous of Daniel
and they tried to find something that would get Daniel in trouble.
Finally these men said to each other,
"We can't find any reason for the king to fire Daniel.
The only way we could get him to disobey the king
is if we made a law against his god."
So they went to king Darius and said,
"O great king, you are so wonderful that
no one should pray to anyone but you."
The king said, "That sounds like a great idea!"
Then the men continued,
"All of your workers have agreed that this should be done
and that anyone that prays to any other god
should be thrown into the lions den."
They had not consulted Daniel.
But Daniel continued to pray to God.
We know the rest of the story.
We may not be able to call God on the telephone or send Him a letter,
but prayer is just as real as e-mail or newspapers.
Why should we pray?
Because it makes our relationship with God stronger.
We can pray for each other.
We can pray to say "thank you."
Prayer is seeking God and His direction for our lives.
Our Bible Search included the word "LION" or PRAYER.
WE always enjoy meal time together.
A "Daniel" craft will remind us of tonight's message.
