JAM Kids: 9 - 9 - 09

JAM Kids - Jesus and Me Kids' Club - met on September 9th for the first session of this school year. We were blessed with 18 active elementary school kids and one Junior Leader.

Our theme for JAM Kids this year will use one story from Dr. Seuss each month, which we will compare with scriptures from the Bible. Tonight's story was "Yertle the Turtle."
We learned that we should be humble!

Here is the angelic group.

Who will claim any of these children?

When the children arrived, they all had two turtles to design and scratch.
Each one was different.

Lily is a mentor to new JAM Kids.

Be sure your name is on your paper.

After creating our "Guideposts" we went into the sanctuary for the story.

The sixth graders were the helpers who showed pictures and turned the pages.

Supper consisted of chicken, fresh fruit, tater tots, and dessert.

Ryan got pretty messy.

Jack takes a big bite of his chicken leg.

Then we went to the gym for games.
Who can balance a beanbag on your head?

Our wonderful evening ended with Campfire Singing.

May God be with you, and bless you loved ones,
May God be with you, loved ones,
And bless you every day.

volunteer fundraisers for Habitat for Humanity

Opening game at Kinnick, 2009
Our group of volunteer fundraisers for Habitat for Humanity.
If you think this pre-game uniform seems a little bizarre,
it was nothing compared to the bizarre ending of the game--
Iowa blocked two field goal attempts in the final 7 seconds of
the game to preserve a one point victory over UNI.
Our group sold over 80 radios and the big winner was Habitat.
