Stewardship of Money
We all know that money does not grow on trees!
It is important that children begin to
understand at an early age that careful spending and saving will be a benefit in their lives.
We have learned that STEWARDSHIP is the careful and responsible management of something that is entrusted to our care.
Tonight, our focus was money.
The room is ready!
We are going to decorate boxes to hold our money.
Each box was unique.
Finding alphabet letters to put a name on a box.
A Conversation about MONEY!
Portions of two Berenstain Bears stories, "Dollars and Sense" and "Trouble With Money" illustrated how managing money is hard to do. We are not being good stewards when we spend money we do not have.
Additionally, when we spend everything we have, we have nothing left over to share with God and those in need.
In the Bible we are told to first set aside a tenth portion for the Lord. (Tithing.)
We worked in small groups at tables.
In the box, there are four envelopes.
Money is to be divided and the envelopes
are to be used in the following way:
1. The 10% they will give to God
or share with people in need.
2. What they are saving for the short-term,
usually for a special purchase or purpose.
3. What they are saving for a long-term goal –
it will Grow with interest. (college? car?)
4. What they can spend now.

We enjoyed working in our small groups,
having pizza for supper, playing in the gym,
and singing campfire songs.
