January 2013 JAM Kids - Getting in Balance

Happy New Year!

Scripture Gem:  

“I guide you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths.”    

Proverbs 4:11

 Temperatures were chilly.   The pond was frozen.

 But inside, everything was warm, welcoming, and ready for JAM Kids!

Miss Kitty had been busy blowing up balloons.

Our schedule for the evening.

The tables were ready with wooden snowflakes and jewels.

"Joyville" is the name of the town where the puppets live.

Jack and Nathan get their name tags.

Getting busy!

Madeline and Carolyn play their violins before doing the craft.

We all had an opportunity to make a "Colors of Faith" snowflake.

Yellow represents God's perfect light.
Black represents our sins.
Red represents the blood Jesus shed for us.
White represents the cleansing of our sins.
 Green represents the new life we have in Jesus.
Blue represents the baptism that identifies us with Jesus.
Purple  represents the crown of life.

 In previous sessions, we have talked about J - O - Y:
 Jesus - Others - Yourself.
Tonight, we added a new way to look at it.   G - E - M:
God - Everyone - Me.
In both cases, we are asked to put God and Jesus first in our lives.
Then others.
Then ourselves.
This will help us find joy and stay balanced.





Our  puppets had a discussion about maintaining balance.






 Mr. Lion decided that he was “out of balance” when he ate three big pizzas all by himself.

Miss Lamb said,  “Balance means keeping things steady - not going to extremes. 

  

Then, O.B. Joyful helped the JAM Kids with some balancing exercises.

 

Time to Eat!

 We said the "Superman" prayer.

 Brownies for dessert!

Putting God First

Each person created a container that symbolizes that it is important to put God first in our lives - and if we do that, everything else will fit into place.  


 There are many things that we try to fit into our day.

Our Gem of Joy for January is the emerald.   

An emerald is a very valuable gem, and
the way that it is cut is very symmetrical.   

Without that symmetry, it would be out of balance.    

The green color of an emerald 

is also the color on a stoplight 

that stands for GO.
